This is exactly why I'll always want the Needle Rifle over the Carbine. I'm not talking about firing-cadence or shots-to-kill, I'm talking about the unique twists that make it more exotic, more alien. The Needle Rifle's supercombine and effectiveness against unshielded targets will always be more interesting than the Carbine's effects, which were pretty much nothing.

I think previous games' iterations might have had a damage boost against shields, and I'm not even sure about that. Boring.
