In Response To: Re: Thank you, Microsoft. (Someone)

: I'll ignore the condescending undertone.

: While you're right that I wasn't there and I don't know all of the people who
: were involved, what we have to go off of is Microsoft's past dealings and
: also the information available in this aritcle. It is a fact taken from
: numerous sources that Microsoft's terms for this movie were way too
: demanding. It says this multiple times. Now while I understand that every
: company is out to get their fair share (and in many cases, much more), it
: was Microsoft that came out guns blazing. Of course there were other
: contributing factors such as Universal and Fox having to split the profits
: and also the money the producers were promised, but ultimately it was
: Microsoft's inexperience with Hollywood nuances and the arrogance that
: they were going to be able to have complete control and do things their
: way. I'm not going to go on because all of this is spelled out in detail
: in the article, but it's pretty ridiculous to just say that I jumped on
: the "hate train" on Microsoft when they have earned the
: reputation that they have. My opinion is an informed one, and if you read
: the article you would know that.

THAT is an informed opinion and is a valid argument.

I did, in fact, read the article. I happen to disagree with their interpretation of the events. They used clever word choice to make Microsoft's actions seem more evil. Why? I don't know for sure, but I think one possible explanation is that it is easy to portray Microsoft as evil.

In my opinion, I believe that although Microsoft could have been a bit more polite (paying for airfares) I would not want them to budge a single inch on creative control. If no one would let them have total control, as was the case, then they should walk away, as they did. I believe Microsoft did the right thing overall, albeit they were a bit rude.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Microsoft doesn't care about money. I'm just saying that they've done a lot of good for the world of gaming and their old reputation no longer suits them. They are by no means saints in the industry, but if they were the rich and greedy men you portrayed them as in your first reply to me, I don't believe we would even be having this conversation as Halo would likely have been a flop.

HAVING SAID ALL THAT. My main problem is not with your argument. It's with this: "...Microsoft is full of a bunch of rich arrogant idiots who were only concered with the political side of the whole ordeal. I say f*ck Microsoft..." This is not an argument. This is an over-generalization. This is bile. This is useless. It is this kind of attitude that hurts everyone.
