In Response To: Re: They would have been 2 different kinds of film (davidfuchs) : There's a reason I prefer Halo to a lot of other sci-fi universes. I don't : *want* another stereotypical modern war film. If you were going to make : that out of Halo (and keep in mind that the games are the big draw not the : novels) why would you chose to make something that isn't what Halo looks : or feels like? What's wrong with trying something new? Also if you want a more compelling narrative then the books are the way to go (I love the games but lets be honest, the story is not presented in the greatest way. The Achilles heel of first person shooters.) I think that the cut scenes from Halo wars best captured the cinematic feel that I would love to see in a Halo movie. Particularly the scene where Captain Cutter watches camera feed of the spartans during the battle of Arcadia. Also the opening scene where Captain Cutter narrates the Battle of Harvest. The Halo 3 'Starry Night' commercial also nailed it. If I was the director of a Halo film, I would present Halo for what it truly is; Pure war on a galactic scale. Imagine the Omaha Beach scene from Saving Private Ryan only PLANETARY level. Halo has never truly shown what the war actually is. These planetary invasions involve casualties in the millions (Billions on earth). And that is nothing compared to the Forerunner Flood war. In short war is dirty, and I think a Halo movie would benefit by showing it as such. After all if the movie were presented in the clean, neat style of the games then why would I watch it? I would just play the games.
