I may yet come to see how Reach could be much better, and you : may yet better appreciate Reach as it is. No. This. Probably only played by ~10,000 people, but it went over well. And the rewrite has...changed my view of Reach on two levels. On the one hand, the fundamental plot structure (clashes with previous canon aside) is actually pretty solid, with a lot of robust ideas and a few nicely subtle tricks, like the recurring Field Marshall. On the other hand, getting down in the mud with the dialogue used to tell that story has picked out some unhappy flaws and omissions. I'm unfortunately not always much better than they were, but I feel like I can at least drop in a few lines to give a bigger sense of scale.
