In Response To: Re: Why is Cortana so important in Halo Reach? (SonofMacPhisto) : Ok, that all makes sense, thanks Loftus. Sounds like a case of 'wrong place : at the wrong time,' no? Yeah, we don't know precisely where the Visegrád dig site actually is. The town or village of Visegrád itself is 50 kilometers (31 miles) away from the relay station. It's probably near there as ONI's cover story for the dig was some pre-colonization meteor impact of interest to science. Professor Sorvad traveled to the relay hub to transmit his 'latchkey' discovery to Halsey. He didn't trust the security of his datalink. (This is from the journal as well). Poor Dr. Sorvad was at the wrong place at the wrong time. At least the Zealots didn't take or destroy his datalink...
