In Response To: Would anyone mind if the campaigns did that? (Leviathan) : I for one would love that. Walking around Winter Contingency before the : Covenant showed up felt like one of the most unique gameplay segments in : all the games. As a squad, doing detective work, and learning about your : comrades. It was slow, story/character-intensive, but fun and gave a : chance for immersion. There are other segments of this, and in other games : as well. The beginning of Crow's Nest where you explore the base as : Marines saddle up for a fight, the bombed garage at the beginning of Tsavo : highway with the wounded soldiers, and especially the lockdowned- area in : The Storm after the Scarab battle (wounded soldiers, soldiers gearing for : battle, commanders listening to reports and Hood's orders). You just made me imagine a level where you plan for an oncoming onslaught - bunker down, set up traps and explosive to use against the onslaught, prepare a strategy that isn't just 'grab as much ammo as you can carry and shoot till they're all dead'... Imagine laying out explosives behind enemy lines before they arrive, then after the first wave of enemies you run over and blast the next wave to high hell before they have a chance to arrive - and it's all a customized, personal strategy (not a mission waypoint). Give the player more choice in how they want to proceed through large battles... be it just gunning away, strategizing offense from a defensive position, or retreating to another location or even for good...
