In Response To: Re: The ODST Narrative Structure and what went wro (Miguel Chavez) : A good smattering of decent points. But some are a bit of a stretch or just : plain don't jibe w/ my own opinion. :) : What I suggest to all of you out there in HBOland is to pick a few paragraphs

: - M "So, what do you think Mig?" --------------------------------- "Good point. I think you nailed it on the head." This was a great podcast nonetheless, with some really good analysis. Well worth a listen. A section I enjoyed was the talk on "information overload" to the player to instruct players how to approach an enemy. Anyone new to Halo who are playing ODST for the first time are not going to start playing on Legendary, probably on a lower setting first. So guiding a player seems a fair idea. But in the end is it helping a player think for themselves and work out how to plasma shot shields? Is this the right approach, holding a players hand to progress? How much of a game should be left to discovery of weapon types and how they improve battle scenarios? I recall old school game manuals that would list enemy types and ways to combat them. I call for a return to that and let the player experiment within the game. Anyway, well worth a listen for other well thought out analysis. -Hedge.
