You could say that I'm imagining them : as being alternate-reality versions of "the real thing." So I'm : not upset by the use of something that looks nearly identical to Mark VI : MJOLNIR because I know what should ACTUALLY be there, and so I just suck : it up and chalk it up. Well, you see, I'm an artist myself. Scratch that, I'm an aspiring author and a student engineer. Therefore, I have an entirely different view of 'artistic license' than you do. You see, if artistic license has to be explained multiple times, if it has to be explained that the Spartans ARE wearing Mark IV, it has to be explained that the Covenant shields ARE up (despite what is readily apparent in the short) then you're not only failing to follow certain rules expected of you when you're doing an adaptation, you're not doing what an artist/writer is supposed to do: Communicate. : (as in, I chalk it up to it not being possible for : this to have been exactly the way that I would have liked it, and even if : it was possible, the fact that it isn't is not something that I can change : so I'm not going to sweat it. Life's extremely short--so don't sweat the : small stuff.). Life is short, and we are judged by what we leave behind. When they released "Batman Gotham Knight" and : "The Animatrix" I didn't freak out over the fact that they : looked so different from each other or that they weren''t identical to the : films. I saw them for what they were. I've got a different example, because I haven't seen those two. Did anyone else suffer through "Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury"? My complaint wasn't that Riddick's face looked like a white cow pie. They were actually pretty close with the other characters. However, more plot holes and plot points were opened and left dangling than were resolved (A total of one, on that last part). They spent more time fighting the Shrill than they did explaining the new characters, or what Riddick's previous encounters with Toombes were. Overall, it failed to expand the universe like it set out to do, and these anime shorts are guilty of the same thing. : I guess maybe it's just life experience that has caused me to mediate and : moderate my expectations of things. I recommend all others do the same. : Lest this current situation expressed in your post repeat itself. Yeah, it'll repeat itself in the near future, but do you know what? When I come across a story or a movie or a game that fits my standard of "could I have written it better?" it truly is a treasure. "Different Seasons", "The Engineer Trilogy", "Dune", "Apocalypse Now!", "A Bridge Too Far", "The Prestige"...
