One has to wonder how much have the stories in legends even been thought of in the scale of the universe. These should be stories from the universe itself, something that could happen in there, not outside stories forcefully planted into the universe. Good fiction can have mysteries while being self-explanatory and without needing outside exaplations to be acceptable. I guess Halo is in sort of a transitional phase; the established direction is yet to be figured out, by the developers, that is. Things are in sort of a mess. This is especially the case with visual consistency, which seems to be completely ignored. Again i bring up the 30-year old designs in Star Wars as an example, because it tells us that just because something can look dated to major audiences, visual retcons aren't necessary. And again, i'm talking design here, not graphics.
