Yeah, the concept descriptions are one thing. The visual changes are something else entirely. For example, the Mk V helmet in multiplayer looks like it should updated in the Halo 3 engine as opposed to what we saw in Halo 1 on the old Xbox. They managed to upgrade the design without updating the design. My biggest pet peeve in this regard in Star Trek is warp speed and the transporter. Taking the movies as an example, why does going to warp or transporting someone to a planet visually look different in each movie. The technology is the same, the effect should also be the same. It would be like a non sci-fi movie that has, say a fire extinguisher in it. We know what it looks like to see a fire extinguisher discharged. The next movie comes along and uses the same type of fire extinguisher, but this time (solely because it's a new movie and there 'creativity' involved in the design stages) they 'update' the look of the extinguisher effect by having it a different color and perhaps illuminated. There's NO need to change something like that. If Slipspace looks a certain way...keep it that way...why change things just because they can be changed?
