Ash, the Spartan-III, is prompted "Ring Offensive System Activated," and "Shield in countdown mode. Exchange proper counterresponse, Reclaimer." He says he doesn't want to hurt the Sentinel, and it responds "Non sequitur," "Reclassifcation of targest as non-Reclaimers. Aboriginal subspecies. Collect for further analysis--else neutralize as possible infection vector." My reasoning for 343 not responding like this is his obvious intelligence in comparison to the simpler Sentinels. Without a more logical and understanding intelligence controlling their actions they seem only able to interact with reclaimers capable of giving the proper counterresponse. Those that don't are eliminated as infection vectors. Also explains why the ones in Halo Wars attack the Spirit of Fire. When Serina is interacting with them she clearly couldn't initiate the proper response either.
