In Response To: Re: No (BINARYGOD) Personally, I feel that the word ark has a much stronger attachment to Noah than the Ark of the Covenant, but point taken. A better theory might be that it's both, because the Covenant would consider it theirs by right, making it the "Ark of the Covenant," and because its connection to Noah's Ark would be the best explanation for why humans (esspecially if we are/were Forerunner) proliferated on THIS planet and not any other in the Halo universe (that we know of). If we're Forerunner and hid from the activation of the Halos why would we bring ourselves to Earth afterward instead of staying where we were? It would make more sense to build a facility capable of shielding life on a planet that can support life. Also, if any of the other Forerunner structures encountered were shelters then it would make sense that humans/forerunner would have been encountered on them. There were no Forerunner on either Halo, and there were none inside the Dyson's sphere...that we know of. As for language. You're right, we don't know WHAT language they're speaking; however, considering the current state of world affairs, and projecting into the future, I think it's likely they are speaking English. There is also a good chance that the English dialect spoken is American, or more specifically Midwestern/Southwestern English, because that's the most commonly known dialect in the media, thanks in part to movies and television most of which come from Southern California in our time, and this dialect is also the one that is used in most official capacities. Looking at all the presidents we have had in the United States, because they come from all different areas of the United States, the typical dialect is the one I mention, it is the dialect used around the world as the official language of air traffic controllers, and it is the most commonly taught version of English. Now it may not have been passed down so exactingly, but because of the highly standardized nature of modern English I feel the language would probably have changed more slowly than in the past. Even it has changed it probably won't be by very much, I can understand early and late middle English fairly easily and it's already a few hundred years old. : "the word Ark has a specific meaning/imagery attached to it in English
: it has just as much attachment to "Ark of the Covenant" as it does
: Keep in mind that GS knows English before he even speaks with MC or examines
: Anyway, we have to look at why Bungie calls it the Ark a little more then
: Keep in mind we dont know what language they actually are speaking in the
