Game Design - What were we MEANT to do? | |

Remember the crazy marine in "343 Guilty Spark"? The one that shoots you when you go through the door? What were we meant to do with him? We has just spent the entire game saving the marines, and not shooting them. Now this one comes along and starts shooting us with a pistol! (Something that had not happened before also) Should I have just run past him? Hit him? Shot him? Thrown a grenade around that corner? If what Marty says in a previous post is a hint at the truth, perhaps he was meant to shoot himself, but perhaps that was deemed too horrible, especially if they wanted a "Teen" game for more players. That would have been a good end to the encounter and a way past without having to be hurt or shoot him. As it stands, this part of the game seems a bit awkward, from a design point of view. So... What do you think we were MEANT to do at this point? Kill him or leave him? |
