In that case, you do have all you need to know, and battlefield situations dictate that such an enemy needs to be eliminated rather than interrogated. What exactly are you going to do with Regret once you catch him? Extraction? With an assault carrier full of angry Covenant right up there in the sky overhead that will be dogging you the whole way? In an area dangerous enough that you can't be directly airlifted to your target by your Pelicans? No, we know Regret is here at Halo to activate it. You can't let that happen, and you can't extract him for proper interorgation, not without needlessly complicating the mission. Cortana and Keyes made a decision based on dynamic battlefield conditions and updated intelligence as to the enemies' motives. |
