In Response To: Alexis's Reluctant Thoughts on Halo 2 (*SP*) (Alexis) : Hey guys, Howdy! : (Great to see the forum back--keep up the great work, Claude!) Ditto. : The following are my thoughts about the story for Halo 2 and how Bungie went
Kapiesh. : Halo 2's story was superb. I enjoyed the game thoroughly. The graphics are
I personally found the Elite segments... bleh. Not my cup of tea. It's probably the "Arbiter" level that left this in my mouth: An Alien commander fighting rebels and zombies on a gas refinery? IMO, it seems like a overdone plot. Until the Covenant cvil war erupted, I always saw the Arbiter levels as spots in between Chief levels. Just how I feel... : First, much of the story that I was expecting was simply missing entirely.
I somewhat share your position on this, save a couple things: 1) FS explains how Johnson got back (When I got the game Monday night, people were watching the demo of "The Armory" in EB and wondering "how the **** did he get back?")
Also, if Halo3 is the series finale, they'll probably tie the Halsey-Kelly thing up, and in a big way, treating the "Hardcore" of us who read the books religiously. Another small theory of mine about the Spartans is this: Chief spent a good amount of time on Delta, and when he arrives at earth before the ending, the Covenant and Humans are fighting. Since we know Covenant have a bad habit of wiping the floor with homosapians, who was keeping them alive all that time we were on Delta? : I remember specifically reading an the November 2002
Many things in that EGM ate it: ATV, Sprinting, "Looking," I could go on... : I guess the problem I see here is that I wasn't expecting a trilogy. Do I
Lost fans? Over a cliffhanger ending? I doubt it. If the game completely sucked, maybe, but over an ending? Pshh. Besides, believe it or not, the vast majority of Halo and Halo2 players will never complete the Campaign modes. Why? Because the common lure of the game - the lure that sold 5 Million copies of the original - is multiplayer. At my brother's school, there is a contengient of about 100 people who play Halo consistantly (Definately more, but that's all I know of). Of that 100, maybe five could tell me Halo's story. One could tell me the plot of H:tFoR. The rest play halo lanfests through the dorm's network nightly, or online through XBC or H:PC. One may play campiagn weekly to hone his skills. Multiplayer is what created the massive fanbase for Halo. It would still exist if Halo was purely story, but it wouldn't be nearly the size. Most people won't know how Halo2 ends, so the threat of alienating a large part of the fanbase is unrealistic. : --Alexis Chester. |
