In Response To: Re: Suspension of Disbelief.. But Not to Death (doesitmatter?no) Amazing! To think that the Enkidu letters would result in an issue of being credulous. Wow. I applaud your sentiments. Bravo. The 'Amazing' James Randi would be quite proud of your social experiment in the demonstration as to how people can allow themselvs to be fooled. I'm remided of a recent show ABC's 'Primetime Thursday' had a show bout the paranormal, where they exclaimed ""if you're a skeptic, we dare you to watch,". Unfortunately, most of the information on the show left out key points of information that can be found on the internet that would make the claims null and void. Was this on purpose? Or maybe the producers of the show really did believe in it. Whether this was due to bad journalisim on a nationally televised show, or a premeditated adjusting of 'the facts', people who watched it obviously could see this as 'truth' and believe it at face value. What it boils down to, if people feel 'cheated' or 'taken'... at the end of the day, they can only blame themselvs. Sorry, but you can't blame the writer of this story. If you watch 'Crossing over with John Edward' or listen to Sylvia Brown and end up paying $700.00 for a personal reading and leaving your will to him/her instead of your family... that's your fault. | |
