Singleplayer is for fun. Multiplayer is a job. It depends on the general atmosphere, but I'm usually guilty of taking multiplayer too seriously. I curse at my mistakes and have to name a new ulcer after I'm finally done, but most of the enjoyment comes from nostalgically looking back upon the combat and laughing it up with friends. Some people enjoy it while playing, some enjoy laughing about it afterwards even if they get up tight (like me) when playing. Then again, I'm a perferctionist and I get mad at any mistakes I make in games and in reality.

Of course, your entire argument is little more than 'sour grapes' for doing so poorly. Not just being thrilled to be alive every second you play Halo doesn't mean you lead a misspent and wasteful life. Heck, the fact you went to a Halo tournament is a pretty trivial and wasteful thing in itself. It's just an opinion though.
