The way I see it, if the game gives the player a weapon and the ability to pull the trigger even when aimed at a friend, no amount of incentives will stop a person from acting selfishly if he really wants to. The only sure way to stop him is to prevent him from buying the game, and it's already too late for that. Halo just looks too pretty for these people to resist. Deathmatch is looked down upon by most of us because such play goes against the core premise of Halo: cooperation. However, allowing a seperate room/server/whatever for deathmatch, even if the engine wasn't designed with deathmatch in mind, might draw away all the losers (yes, I know there are other names for them) that just want to shoot anything that moves. I think of it as a loser magnet that would keep them from bothering people who, like us, are excited by the idea of a really good team game. As usual, feel free to argue with these ideas. Regdren | |
