I'm definitely not trying to emulate Infinity, and I agree that it wouldn't have made a good first installment to the series. (If I had been in charge I'd have actually made Infinity more approachable than it already was, by clearly starting at the end of Marathon 2 and then, you know, actually saying that time travel is happening.)

What I'm aiming for is something more like, as previously mentioned, the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Imagine describing that in a format similar to how I'm summarizing this, to someone with no familiarity with the underlying comics:

In the first movie, a weapons dealer invents a suit of robot armor and goes around fighting terrorists as a vigilante with it. At the end, he is invited to join a secret project called the Avengers Initiative.

In the second movie, an unrelated scientist accidentally exposes himself to a process that turns him into a giant green rage monster when he gets angry, and goes on the run from the military. At the end, the weapons dealer from the first movie shows up to talk to the military guys who're hunting him.

The third movie stars Norse god of thunder being sent to Earth by his father the king of the gods to learn a lesson, during which he ends up saving humanity from his evil brother and meeting the shadowy paramilitary group behind the Avengers Initiative.

The fourth movie is a sequel to the one about the ex-weapons dealer with the robot suit.

The fifth movie takes place during World War II, where a scrawny kid is injected with a super soldier serum and becomes a mascot for the American forces, until he gets a chance to actually prove himself on the battlefield against evil Nazi scientists trying to harness an artifact from those Norse gods. He's frozen in ice at the end and wakes up in the present under the care of that shadowy paramilitary group.

Finally the sixth movie ties all of these together when the Norse god's evil brother comes to Earth to use the artifact the Nazis had during WWII to let aliens invade Earth, and the only hope against him is to finally go ahead with the Avengers Initiative, bringing the robot-suit weapons dealer, the big green rage monster, the WWII mascot, and the god of thunder all together with that paramilitary organization to save the world.

Then there's another sequel to the ex-weapons dealer story...

...and so on. It worked out really well for them.

In any case, I don't mean to be defensive here and if you don't like the canonical reading order (which is just my favorite order to present the story in, out of many ways it could possibly be read), you may find the sixth of the possible reading orders I describe on the main page more to your liking:

"A sixth way is to read the entirety of the Ehrban saga in chronological order, skip back in time to read the Oumen saga in chronological order, then skip back again to read the Sphidi saga in chronological order, missing nothing at all."

So you're basically reading three different stories, each in chronological order, no jumping around.
