Looking at "Opening the Eye of Chaos, Part Three", first they think it's a plot by Xio, then they realize her usefulness, and then Xio contacts them to demand Metis back. So unless it actually is "on cue", Xio found out some way other than Kron calling him up. Well, maybe it was a reply to an indignant voicemail from Kron, but that depends on whether he wants Xio to know he's on to him and his "plot". He might also be able to tell through the telepathic link he's feeding her memories through, but she's out cold at least long enough to get to Kron's secret base, and as you mentioned in the other reply, knowing where someone on the other end of a telepathic link is depends on them knowing. And while knowing she's seeing Kron's face might give Xio a giant clue where she is, it might take a bit for him to register that it's not from the memories he's feeding her. (This all assumes you're not changing the order of events, of course.) How closely does Xio keep tabs on Metis? How long did it take to notice Metis must be in trouble? Any important business of his own interrupted by this crisis? : Which business? Sue lead the Orc chieftain to the Gem of Ice just to help : calm things down in the West, to improve on the status quo of Warlock : warlords ruling over and fighting betwen each other. Tom wanted the good : king of Chalmany to get the Gem of Fire so that nobody else did. Nobody : was trying to get an Elf and a Vampire together to release the Queen of : Hell or anything. Tom had "been trying to mount an expedition to recover" the Gem of Fire "for some time" about the same time news came of the orcish unification. I get the impression this was part of some unified plan on both Tom and Sue's part. : They are original uncorrupted avatars who, until they die in the Meantime of : the Darklight, remember all the way back to when they were incarnate : humans beta-testing Virtuality. They were there when the Queen of Hell was : free before and know that it's a bad idea to set her free again but with : lots more power. Er, I think you missed a quote there. I was asking how they'd know about other uncorrupted avatars. (Though Metis might have noticed when looking to see who's in the first test-run.) : That is an interesting idea that I will have to mull over some more. I kinda : like it. It would be interesting to see Tom almost as surprised that he regenerated as the Prince was. And I note that Tom and Sue turned "human" and orc, rather than elf and vampire. Not quite finished detoxing? : I figured that there was not enough time for him to be really properly : corrupted by the Gem of Ice just over a decade or two. It took thousands : of years of influence to turn the Old Ones into Vampires and Elves. So what would the point of no return be here? or the point of "really really hard to claw your way back from that", in the case of Tom and Sue? (not necessarily time-based, just what values need to tip over a few points to render you nonhuman) : Deedee is a deprecated name now, she's Xiuying/Xiu/Sue (and her art style, : Xiu Dao, is the origin of "Sue Do", whence "Pseudo"). : (I know that still shows up somewhere in the high-level Virtuality summary : I have, but it will be replaced when I finish going over that in : November.) Heh. I'd figured that maybe that was a different character that had got rezzed (maybe that one lady who took out her issues on Tom). I suppose, if you really wanted to keep it, you could handwave the different name as a symptom of the corruption. Was it just the different name, or did she have a different background then, too?
