I'm confused... there are missing pattern buffers where there used to be buffers before? Or, they're still there but they don't work? If anything there are more buffers now than there used to be, unless somehow they stopped working.

I'm confused again, because that's a bug that used to be there long ago and then got fixed. Are you sure you have FC2? Re-select everything in your Environment preferences to make sure it's not trying to use data files from an older version; Aleph One does that sometimes.

Different than what? The maps have definitely changed a lot since Mark V - many of them are completely different, replacements of previous maps. What was the last version you played before FC2?
