In Response To: Re: Eternal X Final Candidate 2 (Elderman) : Mostly, I think it looks great. The prologue strikes me as particularly
Finally, someone who likes the subtle colors! :-) And I know that prologue terminal is huge, but it really wouldn't make sense spread out over several terminals, since it's a log entry that you just wrote, not something you'd find bits and pieces of scattered all over. It used to be in a text file but then people said "wtf is going on?" because they didn't read it; then I put it in a scrolling chapter screen and people complained that it was tl;dr. So a terminal seemed a good compromise: right there inviting you to read it, but you can read it at your leisure or skip it entirely if you want. : I thought both Deja Vu and Septococcal were excellent, fun levels: lots to
It's still very early in the attack on the Marathon; the Emergency Systems Broadcast that you read first thing in M1 hasn't even been sent out until toward the end of Chapter 1. Later on things get a little wackier, especially on "Unwired". : Did you say that you caught flack for ugly Pfhor levels? Personally, I
I caught flack for them a long time ago. Now people generally agree that the Pfhor set is the best. : Sakhmet Rising started well, and I was excited about the race for time with
It's inspired by M1's "G4 Sunbathing", and also one of the least-changed levels in Eternal's development history, so you've probably seen it before. : I liked the developing relationship with Hathor, though. Is she an Eternal
She's an original creation, though I link her to preexisting Marathon elements (she was another Mjolnir Mk IV cyborg; and she is also another character briefly and cryptically spoken of once in Marathon 2, but that's a surprise I won't spoil for you). : It was a sort of unpleasant shock for her to name me. I understand your
Her using your name was actually meant to be a little creepy. Think about it; how often do you refer to people repeatedly by name when speaking directly to them? "Hello, Elderman. Blah blah blah blah blah. Please, Elderman, I beg of you, blah blah blah blah blah. I know only you would understand that blah blah blah blah, Elderman." A little creepy eh? : - Sometimes, after a level has finished loading the game will pause with a
Hey, someone else gets that bug! I have no idea what causes it - it's something with AO, I think maybe it has something to do with the very first view in a level having a landscape texture in it, but I'm not sure, and IIRC Gregory was unable to reproduce it when I reported it to him a while back. So I don't know what's going on there. : Anyway, that's as far as I've got. It's pretty darn good so far. I look
Thanks a bunch :-)
