	In Response To: Re: W'rkncacnter and timelines (Forrest of B.org) :: In multilinear time, you can travel back and get yourself into any timeline :: you want, by making that timeline when you travel back, but not like you :: seem to be thinking of. Let me illustrate it this way: Say you and I want :: different events to take place - say we get in a fist fight, so of course, :: each of us wants ourselves to win. The first time around, I win the fist :: fight. So then you take your time machine, travel back and (lets use :: Infinity style where you rewind time in your own mind), then knowing just :: what moves I'm going to pull off, counter them and win. Of course, the :: original timeline where I won still exists. So now, in the second :: timeline, I realize what you've done, learn time travel myself, and then :: go back and counter your counterattack and still wind up winning. Hah! :: Except, the second timeline where you won still exists. Using MI-style time-travel, I expect it would go more like this: we get in a fight, you win, walk away, and BLAM! Now instead of me, you’re fighting Madonna and Nixon in a free-for-all. Why? Who knows? :: Now in Eternal I have a little bit of a copout that makes this all sort of :: invalid - the Cybernetic Junction allows you to skip timelines as well as :: travel time, if you know the timeline you want to go to. Seriously, that’s how I thought MI’s time-travel worked, since you don’t go back to the Marathon each time and start over. You’re just there, teleported through the ether (which is what I named the 5th dimension perpendicular to timelines). Don’t know what happens to the [?you] that was there [?before] you, though. :: Basically, the point is that the a freed W'rkncacnter wouldn't (or at least :: shouldn't) care about whether there are other timelines where it's not :: free, cause it can't unmake those, it can just make new branches of them :: at best. Actually, if a being of pure chaos were capable of time-travel, I wouldn’t be surprised if it could unmake timelines. But then there’s no reason it wasn’t causing all sorts of havoc before* being released in MI’s alternate timelines, so maybe they can’t time-travel. *Before being released, relative to the timeline. After being released, relative to the W’rk, assuming they experience time in any comprehensible way. : I have returned from an alternate future and contained the W'rkncacnter to : bring you this further message: I'm not sure I explicitly mention it : anywhere, but this ability of the W'rk to go anywhere anywhen is my : explanation for the huge W'rk-battle at the dawn of time. All these W'rk : (there are many such all-powerful beings with less than rational : motivations, ascended from different civilizations across space, time, and : alt-time) want absolute control over history, so of course, they all try : to go back to the beginning of time to take charge before anyone else is : around to stop them. But, since there's a ton of them, maybe even : infinitely many copies of themselves, pouring in from a zillion alternate : futures, all struggling for control over this initial moment... there's a : major war between them. And after the war peters out, the mostly-dead : survivors drift unconscious through space until they knock into : unsuspecting planets or, more likely (and fortunately for us), fall into : stars or black holes or such. : "In primordial space, timeless creatures made wave. The waves were : battles, and the battles were waves..." Is it possible, or even conceivable, that in one huge multi-time loop-the-loop, this W’rk war was responsible for the creation of Time, or even the entire universe? I imagine they made a pretty big bang.
