I do think it should be possible to raise the north half, for people who do want to take advantage of the extra space available. Your suggestion of a switch earlier in the level to lower the platform seems to be the best compromise so far, and it solves all the objections that have been raised with a minimum of change to the level, so that can be the final plan.

We can talk more about the recharger if the level is still too hard with the extra canister.
