Durandal's comment "Good-byes were always hard for me. You know I'll never let you go." is on Fatum Iustum Stultorum and relates to him letting Blake and the rest of the humans go back to Sol. And of course infers that he would never let us go.

The final terminal is more ambigious. Durandal says "You can stay behind to work on your tan, if you'd like, but I'm leaving." suggesting that the SO has choice.

The reference to "We will meet it in one of the great voids between the spiral arms." can simply be interpreted as Durandal and the S'pht.

I can see how the writer of the Infinity manual perhaps not totally familiar with the details of the M2 story could read the final terminal and assume we had delivered ourself from our "service" to Durandal since he was giving us a choice... stay (die) or go.

Of course there is no choice.
