In Response To: Re: Cortana's holograph can move things? (Wado SG) : It's hard to tell if it is just the way the game was coded or if holograms
: What I mean is that there are movies of Cortana getting attacked by an Elite
: Perhaps it is a Forerunner ability to make solid energy holograms (or force
This may also be the case, that she has learned to physically manipulate her surroundings (who knows what she has discovered in those 12 hours :\ ). However, for the sake of discussion, which is more plausible: that she, as JAGUAR2G has stated, teleported the Index "the hell outta there", saving herself from being purged from the Core only through Guilty Spark's temporary ignorance of the Index's new location (he can look), or, that she has hidden it within herself somehow, putting Guilty Spark in a much more difficult situation considering that the Index he needs/wants and the AI he wishes to purge are now seemingly indivisible? In addition, when assuming the latter scenario, Cortana would then have continued access to the Index; she would own it, and not need to be bothered with retrieving it again at a later time. If we accept the former set of events, namely that the Index has been tangibly relocated, we are left with several difficulties to explain. It could be viewed as slightly risky for her to let an object of such importance out of her immediate possession once it had been acquired. Also, the events of the game do not see Cortana retrieve the Index from its undisclosed location (as we might expect her to), nor would she be able to via the Halo's teleportation grid after its complete destruction. I propose that a resourceful, knowledge tantalized artificial intelligence such as Cortana would choose to assimilate the Index rather than merely "hide it out of sight" due to both the immediate survival value of the decision and for the continued security of possessing the Index for whatever reasons she might see fit.
