The purpose of rules is to level the playing field.

If you're playing against the Bucs and you're both following the rules of the sport, they're probably going to kick your ass. Why? Because they're better than you.

If, however, they win because they cornered your team in the locker room, broke your legs, and then played (or payed off your quarterback to throw the game), THAT would be unfair — and, hence, cheating.

"Cheating" means a manner of playing that's unfair, whether or not it's explicitly layed out in the rules. So winning because you played that way is not the same as winning because... you're good.

And the point of this contest was not to test your loopholes, it was to test your skill.
