In Response To: Re: Halo's story/Aliens *2 Spoilers* (Alfred Mordeir) : Oh sure, you can like then, just like people like the Count Chocula. But do
What the hell does Count Chocula do other than advertize cereal? Not a damn thing... Do I care about them? Even though it IS a game and none of it is REAL, I would say that the first time I played Halo I cared about the humans just as much as I would in real life. As for relating to them, I have not ever been (and never will be) put into a situation such as theirs. A life and death struggle between humans and a ruthless race known only as the Covenant, and this situation is quite bleak in Halo. Riiiight. I can BOTH understand and sympathize with them. Jesus, to not understand and/or sympathize with them would be imhumane of me or just about anyone. : That's what a likeable character is. Oh really? I think that you are assuming here. Not only that, you are setting a standard that applies to everyone. Can you understand and sympathize with Count Chocula? The point I'm getting at here is that assuming a standard that applies to everyone is just plain ignorant. A likeable character is one that anyone can like, not everyone (i.e. - not one that everyone MUST like). I know that you are totally obligated to your own opinion, but this is just ridiculous. A likeable character. This, with many of the things in life itself, is just relative. -Surrepticius
