Flood in future Halo games is a near-certainty | |

In Response To: Re: Lol, pet cocaine (SIX min WHISTLE) : As for how the actual Flood powder came to be, it seems like the Precursors : probably made it. They made the Forerunner and us, as a Type 0 : civilization capable of creating and shaping life. Or maybe they : discovered it and weaponized it, I seem to remember something about Flood : originally coming from outside of our galaxy. Doesn't really matter either : way. Quite the contrary, it's the only thing that matters. The Forerunners and Precursors make war upon each other. The Forerunners win and the remaining Precursors fled this galaxy. Years upon years pass and a ship bearing a mysterious substance from outside this galaxy ultimately leads to the Flood infection, which annihilates Forerunner society and precipitates the firing of the Halo array. A court of law might call that circumstantial evidence, but this is fiction. There is no coincidence in fiction writing; everything is deliberate. If Halo's lore writers didn't intend for the audience to pick up on this, then the only alternative is that they got sloppy. Master Chief may have stopped the second great infection of the Milky Way galaxy, but three things are still evident: (1) There are surely samples of Flood in other Forerunner facilities, like the other Halos. (2) It's entirely possibly that there are active Flood forms on a Covenant world somewhere, left behind by Gravemind. (3) If the source of the Flood is truly extragalactic, then that has yet to be addressed. And look at War Games; the 'Infection' gametype is now given narrative backing as an anti-Flood combat exercise. If the UNSC is actively training the SPARTAN-IVs to fight Flood, they know the threat hasn't passed. There may not be any Flood in Halo 4, but I would be very surprised if the subject isn't raised in future installments.
