It takes centuries for the Flood outbreak to get established? CENTURIES?! At no point did someone attempt to address the bizarre and virulent mutations going on under their noses? Also, I trust others have picked up in the implication that this proto-Flood powder was deliberately engineered and sent into the Milky Way by the Precursor refugees? What kind of dumb plan is it to hope that some unsuspecting hoo-man would give his pet a sniff of this stuff instead quarantining or outright incinerating an unidentifiable and potentially dangerous substance? Then again, considering what happened, I guess it wasn't that dumb a plan. But that only begs the question, how did the lost civilization of Man ever get so advanced if they lack a basic survival instinct like being suspicious of UNIDENTIFIABLE AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SUBSTANCES?
