Oh man that was great! A few things:
1. This is the first time I've ever thought of ODSTs dropping in as a bad thing! Halo 2, The Flood, Cole Protocol, Halo 3 ODST, etc, they always come in and if not save the day at least provide some serious hope. Using them to scare and show just how bad thing are getting in such a supposedly safe place was chilling and brilliant!
2. I was a little surprised none of the characters commented on the strange alien weapon sounds in the pieced together Spartan video. All these Marines in training probably know normal gunfire sounds well enough to wonder. Someone saying "What's that? Sounds like its from a game..." Wound have been awesome.
3. Oh hel!l That Cortana rampancy opening was scary! Those red spirals and the self arguing. Rampancy has never been touched on strongly enough in Halo in my opinion. I can't recall a single example of a rampant AI actually going bad. Sif and the one running the Rubble actually saved the day while rampant. I do think their former humanity stabilizes them in a way that the Marathon AIs didn't have. Still it would be great... and sad since we'd lose a friend... if 343 had the guts to make Cortana the enemy.
4. That space elevator ripping apart! If only it'd been day time so we could see it better!
