I could make a case for Emile and Jorge's : colors, even Jorge's burnt orange. I just can't think of any natural : enviroment that we've encountered where Kat's armor color would make : sense. Just for the noting of environments, a lot of arctic/cold weather camouflages/fatigues are or include blue, as do modern naval uniforms. It's also a more effective color (see, Navy Blue) in dark environments than black is, because black is not as often naturally occurring and stands out more. And while we're on the argument there are a lot of environments that can incorporate colors like yellow, red, orange or purple, in addition to standard brown/green/blue sets. There are jungle patterns that incorporate purple and/or yellow. And there are parts of the world with orange clay dust everywhere. And a red camouflage would be reasonably suited for a deployment on Mars. Now, obviously, in environments shown, that isn't always the case, but given the way light works and the actual military function of camouflage - that it breaks up the details and blurs the edges of your silhouette - then there are much more substantial reasons to think you might see Spartans in more varied colors. And I don't think it is unreasonable to assume that they might repaint their armor for operations in a changing theater if they're planning on being involved in operations there.
