In Response To: The Best and Worst Designed Alien Species (Toxic Mayhem) : Guess who made the list, both of them. ... seriously, they along with the rest of the Covenant - basically the decision Bungie made to make the Covenant a colorful variety of characters - that's one of the best things about Halo, and what really set it apart from your average alien invasion story. The aliens could have just been boring, traditional aliens, and Halo would lose something like half of its amazing-ness. Plus they're just so damn funny. Also... I thought the Gears of War badguys were mutated humans who had gone underground - not aliens at all. I've only played the first Gears, but I remember the level where you go underground and visit a human nuclear facility. It seemed heavily implied that this was the case...
