Why wouldn't dust blow around and down into wide open : structures like that? The original game looks so clean because of hardware : limitations I imagine. Look at Halo 2, Delta Halo was a relatively dirty : place, as far as they could render it. We already have self cleaning glass, a super advanced civilization should have conquered dirt and the ravages of time. The original game's pristine state gave the architecture a timeless quality. The first game's Forerunner structures were immune to dirt which a super advanced civ's structures should be. I didn't like the piss stained concrete look in Halo 3. Dirt and aging is so next gen. :-(
