I do agree with you - I've always preferred ME2 slightly more than #1 (I was merely referring to the masses of people that rant about it 24/7). And regarding ME3 - from what I understand loot returns along with more customisable weaponry - 2 things missing that really shifted the shooter/RPG balance in ME2 (whether or not their removal was a good or bad thing is a debate saved for another day :D)
