Yes, but what SoMP is saying (and I agree) is that they actually improved the core (shooting) mechanics. You spend most of your time in both games running around shooting things. ME2 is vastly superior to ME1. (FWIW, I would have preferred ME2's shooting mechanics w/ ME1's inventory & character sheets.) If you're expecting ME3 to be heavier on RPG mechanics than ME2, I think you're setting yourself up for disappointment.
