Oh, wait, I've never agreed with you. Makes sense.
Personally, I dislike the hand armor. Not because it's a change from Halo 2, because it's rather immaterial. I dislike it because it's so visually distracting. Kinda like the pads Hobbes used to have on his paws.
The jetpacks, if they are integrated into MJOLNIR Mk VI, are not mere cosmetic upgrades. Go back and play Halo 2.

Yeah, the fact that the Chief didn't use jetpacks or ZGThrusters is a fairly positive indication that he didn't have them.
