Isn't a "TFoR redo" basically what the comic series is? This interview at least talks about expanding on characters and "letting bits of the story breathe". I haven't been reading it, but I"m cautiously optimistic for when I do.

Technically, we've had the issue since FoR itself. I'm assuming you're asking "why not" rhetorically, since there are plenty of straightforward probable reasons (they don't care, they're just people trying to make a living, people buy the stories either way, they don't keep track well enough to fully understand all the problems and end up only adding to them when they try to fix them).
