I really, really disagree. TFoR has always been my favorite of all the novels. And like Leviathan, my wife also read it (along with The Flood and First Strike) and actually enjoyed it; and she is NOT the biggest fan of Halo-stuff, so that's sayin' sumthin'.

I don't disagree that characters could be delved into deeper if you split it into two books, but is that necessary? Think about the purpose of those first three books... to me, they were meant to compliment and expand the story of the Master Chief, as told by the games. The Chief was the focus, not the other Spartans, so it's not really surprising that they're not that deep, and I'm alright with that.
