I think by disabling friend requests, I'd more want it to work like turning chat program, or similar product, to away mode. You could still make friend requests to people, but you couldn't get them. Or something similar. Again, that's about as good a solution as leaving your list full, as that if both parties involved were set to 'friend requests off' one of them would have to dig through the pop up dashboard to turn it back on before being able to be friends with the other person. Similar to heading into your friends list to delete someone so you can have that 100th friend again. Maybe some sort of hybrid system, where if you request to be someones friend, and they have requests turned off, it just sits idle, and nothing happens, but if they also request you back, then you have to 1 way pending friend requests to the same place, and as such, creates a link.
