Ode to Halo 2 on XBL

This has affected me more than I thought it would.
So I wrote this off the top of my head.
I kept 7 syllables in each line in Halo's honor.
I also noticed that there are 243 words...only 100 off of 343, which I could still add.
Either way, here it is.


One sunlit morn, I awoke
And shook off my drowsy cloak
Scarcely any words I spoke
My face went a paler hue
It can’t be true, can’t be true.

The news, it seems, was not good
Frozen, saddened, still I stood.
Petrified like ancient wood.
There was nothing I could do
It can’t be true, can’t be true.

“How can this be?” I had said
My soul felt like it was dead
My heart felt like it had bled
“What?..No.. No more Halo 2?
It can’t be true, can’t be true.”

“No more Relic in Big Team?
No, this MUST be a bad dream
Surely it is too extreme
It is a dream, through and through
It can’t be true, can’t be true.”

What was once chaos and fun,
Shall be without anyone
I shall be the only one
Alone in a base of blue
It can’t be true, can’t be true.

Dust and echoes, and no voice
To speak to me or rejoice
What made them make this bad choice?
None to shoot in Halo 2

Terminal shall be lifeless
No games shall Headlong possess

No flag-man shall I pursue

All alone on all these maps
Faintly played, the song “taps”
In mem’ry of its collapse
