Fuck : them. Who fucking needs over 100 internet friends, that is so much : horseshit. Why should I buy Halo: Reach? You never know, they might cancel : online for that too years from now. I didn't suspect that when Halo 2 came : out. Now you realize the importance of player control: with dedicated servers you can play a game for as long as you want. Doom? Still able to play. Quake? Still able to play. Starcraft? Still able to play (via iccup private server). Myth 2? Still able to play (via project magma). It's all part of the assault on us as players. Bungie knows what's fun, so why give players the ability to browse custom games? They'd just play the same stuff anyway, so we'll remove that to make the experience better for everybody. They make the choice, since they know what players want!! Who needs private servers and mods? Infinity Ward knows the best way to play MW2. They want to provide the best experience possible, and to allow players to change that would impact their perfect experience! I'm glad I'm getting out before it gets truly bad. One day you'll have to play the game exactly how the developers want. They'll ban you for using tactics that make the game unfun for lesser players. You'll have no way to create mods, and no way to play unless you go through the official servers. LAN play, who needs that? You'll have to be connected to the internet while you play just to make sure you aren't a thief. You'll be stuck having to download a digital copy that you can't return, sell, or loan to a friend. Developers will plan obsolescence into their games, forcing you to buy the new version to continue playing online. When your console dies, all your downloaded games will go with them. There'll be no way to play them on an emulator or a knock off console. I feel I am being marginalized because I as a player am being assaulted, both in game design and in the business aspect. Of course nothing will be done. Nobody's going to miss my money. Nobody will miss yours either. For every one of us that knows better, a thousand others just don't care. It's futile. I've given up, but I'm going to go kicking and screaming.
