From what I remember, the SIII's : were taken from a wider genetic pool, and their training was : "accelerated". That could simply be the difference between : taking 4-years to complete your Bachelor's degree vs. 6-years. Who knows? : I'm just sayin, "accelerated" doesn't automatically mean : "they were taught LESS." They were just given a fire-hose : instead of a faucet. I think that perhaps some may have grasped the training better than others then. Some might have been smart enough to begin with. To me, it seems like (yet again) those that were smart enough, strong enough, and lucky enough, were the ones who survived. Those who survived likely came to tactical genius, incredible field experience, and all that other stuff that that Spartan II's have, on their own. Just think...Lets say Carter 259 started out as a war orphan..was trained, drugged up and augmented in an accelerated (and perfected) process. For the sake of argument, he's not as smart as a fully trained Spartan II....but he goes on his first mission and everyone dies (Except maybe for Kat) Well he keeps learning...gaining more and more knowledge and experience throughout the years until he's 32 (his age during Halo:Reach, correct?) If he started his initial training at 11....thats a long time for him to gain wisdom, knowledge, experience etc etc. The same goes for the other Spartan III's that survived their missions. Does that mean they're MORE badass than Spartan II's?...no...they could be equal, they could be less, or they could just be DIFFERENT. But I am happy with them. Its new, yet familiar. And we may get more insight into their origins since most Halo fans won't even know what Spartan III's are. Perhaps it'll need to be explained.
