In Response To: Re: Hitting 5000 - How will they hold you for Reac (FyreWulff)

: I did say that would be pretty drastic, I'm not saying to do that.

: Ideally, you'd only start being penalized once the system figures out you're
: just quitting, and starts hitting you harder when it just looks like
: you're attempting to derank, while leaving alone people that hardly ever
: quit or lag out (obviously no penalty for FFA)

That would just help the derankers! but that system would stop serial quitting.

I wish I had the time to put as much thaught into my post as you did yours, and well done on the 5K experiance, but I have to say your missing out on a lot by not going for 50, and I feel you havent experianced the ranking system enough to appreciate the Skill system.

I personally had a LOT of fun going for my 45 and then my 50 when i improved enough as a player, and thats why im pretty dissapointed by the idea that Reach will follow a more Gears/ COD system, but I agree that the Halo system is probably too hard for the majority of people and that the exp based system is more rewarding for people who arent gonna aim for the highest skill.

So ideally annother skill based system would be perfect for me for Reach, but for the sake of discussion a system like the one Zane mentioned would be awesome, I really like the callsign system in call of duty and how doing certain challenges unlocks certain symbols, i dont like the exp system so much though its a bit too simplistic and makes the game a lot more personal, in halo you have to work as a team, in cod it doesnt really matter what happens to your team.

But yeah Ranking should just be linked with asthetic changes, it shouldnt change the game, in that i mean you shouldnt unlock weapons and power ups etc.

FyreWulff turtling at level 10 in snipers? That seems too low for the tactical sort of turtling I would expect, even at like level 45 - 50 snipers people dont really camp, hmm.
