In Response To: Re: My Theory *long* (Metalingus627) : Understand your points in the previous post. But so far in the series, : "Sierra" has been reserved to indicate the presence of a : Spartan. The first level of Halo 3 is "Sierra 117." Anybody who : doesn't know (or care) about the numerical designations of Pelicans is : going to watch that trailer and think "Hmm, Sierra 259, that means : its a Spartan!" Bungie implies, heavily, in that trailer that 259 and : 320 are Spartans, not Pelicans. Sierra's only been used to refer to Spartans once, as you said, in the first level of Halo 3. Anything else is unconfirmed. If what we know from the books is accurate (and, at the moment, it is), S-III was the only Spartan-related project that none of the other main characters knew about. Given the numerical errors throughout the books (number of Spartans, ships, etc.) the numbers aren't really hard evidence. I realize that Bungie tends to hide things for people like us, but that hasn't been the case with their trailers. The Halo 2 announcement trailer had little to do with the actual happenings in the game (the trailer showed a massive battle with nuclear explosions all over Earth), the trailers for the original game were barely linked to the story. There's not much to indicate that the Reach trailer is meant to do anything but hype.
