There's another thing that the developers' "fan fiction"/spirit-capturing vignettes did better than the final product. There were several references in there to the discomfort felt by the crew when they had to incinerate the bodies of their fallen because they just couldn't take the risks involved in giving them a proper burial. -- Steve thinks a dash of that in the cinematics would've really cranked up the narrative.
