The CD is past it, that much is obvious. I will not defend the CD as it is time that a new technology replaces it! DVD is great for that but the reason that it hasn't been used much is because games makers want more sales and DVD saturation isn't yet 90%+ [to my knowledge]. I think that almost[?] every new computer can play DVD's, but there are a huge number of computers that have plain old CD drives or CDR/RW with no DVD support. As long as the cost of making multiple CD's isn't MUCH more expensive than the DVD version then a CD version should be done as well. As long as there is no CD check then a DVD version will be OK [though I'd have to install it through my network - grrrrr] but if there's a CD version that would be what I would buy. PS - FMD's [flurecent multi-layered disks] are the way forward... they hold around 100gig and are made of glass / a glass like material [MUCH harder to damage]. But DVD's will have to do for now. | |
