What do you do with them anyway, and what kind of drive do you have that will waste a CD out of "too much use"? And even if you total it, most editors/distributors will replace your broken CD for a small fee (ever bother reading the fine print at the end of the manual?). I would defenitly go for a DVD version, it would be cheaper, and they could ship all the E3 (and non E3) videos they made in higher quality, sort of an "history of Halo" feature, like video DVDs have. : I have 3 computers - 1 has a DVD drive, 1 a CDRW [no DVD support] and 1 50x : CD drive [no DVD support]. : I would prefer a release on CD BUT if it was released on DVD WITHOUT a CD : check then that would be acceptable. But it would be impossible for me to : play it on my computer [CDRW] if it were to have a CD check. : But obviously you want to think about piracy. It's harder to pirate a DVD : than several CD's. So how about an online system like Tribes 2 where you : login each time you want to play online... you make an account for online : play and use the CD key ONCE and then you never need the serial key again, : you just login each time. This would make it impossible to SHARE CD keys. : - This system is obviously no good if the MAIN focus is on single player : but even Half-Life [which was designed for single player] was MORE popular : online so you want a SECURE system. : OVERALL: If there were 2 versions next to each other, one CD and one DVD, for : the same price and NEITHER had a CD check then I would go for the CD : version.
