In Response To: Re: Halo on DVD for PC. (Bulldogg)

I hate programs with CD checks. Having to insert the disk each time is a waste of my time. NEway, Unreal Tournament became to damaged to install off of [though I made a file copy and was thankful when in the 436 patch they REMOVED the CD check and I could use my backup CD] and then when I put my X-Wing Alliance disk into my 52x drive it came out with a crack straight down the radius of the CD! [don't ask how - it's beyond me how this is even possible but it happened!]. Yes, I'm not very careful with my disks, but having to insert them each time doesn't help... but saying this a NO-CD crack always appears on the net soon after the game is released.

I am not going to be going out to buy a DVD drive just to run Halo. If you look at other games that need a DVD you will find... about 3. Games like Baldur's Gate 1&2 have been released on DVD but ALSO on multiple CD. I hardly see people going out to buy a DVD drive just for one game... especially seeing as how FEW people watch DVD's on their computer and so few other games use DVD's.

Disks should only be used to install and not required to play the game. Therefore it doesn't really matter to me to have to change disk during install, so why go SOLEY over to DVD while cutting out a sizeable percentage of the market.

My guess is that Bungie will release CD version and possibly a DVD version... but we don't know how big Halo is yet. If it's only 2 CD's then there isn't really a need for a DVD version but if it's like 4+ disks then they should release a DVD version as well.
