The name is derived for the texture backdrop of : that graphic from the game files. Similarly, there was a graphic named : Threshold and Basis in the Halo 1 files. Count that one as true. Thanks. I'll make a note on the Wikipedia site that this is the file name for the planet graphic, but will delete the part saying that the UNSC had discovered and named the planet already. : The word "Delta" is a human military alphabet term. Maybe it's a : translation of the Covenant's word designating the fourth mapped Halo ring : (from their murals, they know there are seven) and the best human : translation of "4th holy ring" came out Delta Halo. Not a : definitive answer, but the best explanation that fits the available facts. Cool. I'll delete the part that says that it is the UNSC designation for the halo, based on available information.
